Bank OCBC NISP (previously known as Bank NISP) is the fourth oldest banks in Indonesia, which was established on April 4, 1941 in Bandung by the name of NV Nederlandsch Indische Spaar En Deposit Bank.
Bank OCBC NISP later developed into a solid and reliable bank, mainly serving the segment of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Bank OCBC NISP officially became a commercial bank in 1967, a foreign exchange bank in 1990 and became a public company in Indonesia Stock Exchange in 1994.
In the late 1990s, Bank OCBC NISP survived the Asian financial crisis and the collapse of the banking sector in Indonesia, without the support of government recapitalization bonds. Bank OCBC NISP at that time became one of the banks in Indonesia to resume lending soon after the crisis. This initiative allows the Bank recorded a high growth.
Bank OCBC NISP reputation both in industry and a promising growth, has attracted the attention of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, which later became shareholders in the year 2001 to 2010 and from Singapore's OCBC Bank, which later became shareholders Bank OCBC NISP and eventually became the controlling shareholder through a series of acquisitions and tender offers since 2004. -Singapore's OCBC Bank currently has a stake of 85.06% at Bank OCBC NISP.
With the support of OCBC Bank, Singapore, OCBC Bank NISP has established an aggressive program to strengthen the infrastructure, including human resources, information technology and office networks. This program which then triggers the headquarters move to the OCBC NISP Tower in central Jakarta, which allows the Bank OCBC NISP has direct access to the business center of Indonesia.
